The fortress on the right side of the photo was built by the Ottoman Sultans and was the governer of the safety of this city and the black sea-mediterranean sea route. It was built about 700 years ago. There is a similar one on the Asian side of the city and they are called the Anatolian and Rumeli Hisar.
